Story Connections
Warlords, Onimusha 2 and Onimusha 3 form the "Nobunaga arc": the resurrected Oda Nobunaga and the Genma threat across Sengoku-era Japan, with different protagonists per game. Dawn of Dreams picks up after Nobunaga’s fall, under Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s corrupted rule. Way of the Sword (2026) is a reboot — it needs none of this backstory, though old fans will recognise the soul-absorbing gauntlet, the Issen counter and the Genma.
